I have been following Blind Channel for a year and half now, and I've been lucky enough to see their shows many times already. Since the first time I saw them playing a live show I fell in love with the energy they bring on stage.
This review is about the first time I saw them in concert in my home country, Italy, on their "Exit Emotions tour".
I'm not gonna lie, I was slightly concerned about this show in particular, at that point I didn't know what the Italian fans were like, the people that I know that follow Blind Channel are my friend and mostly British.
Let's start from the beginning.
I got my flight to Milan the day before the show just because I really wanted this to be a chill show, no stress, just a holiday.
Once i got to Milan, I met a few Italian fans that I already know and we made our way to the hotel to check in. Then is was a llate night ice cream in Piazza del Duomo and sleep.
Gig day is here!
I got a vip upgrade to my ticket for this so I had a meet and greet with the band, which was nice as always with a little surprise for them.
During the meet and greet there was a little acoustic session and, as the venue is called "Alcatraz", they played an acoustic version of their song "Alcatraz" which is a rarity!
Unfortunately this was the day that Ghøstkid (one of the two support bands) had to cancel the show last minute. We did had a longer set with Rock Band From Hell, that was absolutely brilliant, they played "Princess Complex", incredibly amazing live!
Then Blind Channel gets on stage and I forgot about the world outside those doors. Song after song the floor is shaking from all the jumping, screaming my lungs out to the songs that I loved since this album came out. You can check out Suzy's review of the album here.
The band gave everything they have, and I'd like to mention that at least two out of six band member were sick at this point of the tour. Yes we got "tour fever", all of us, fans and bands included.
The only moment I saw them backing up was when Aleksi (dj/percussions) didn't show up on stage half way through the show for a little intterlude that he had been doing at previous shows. But he lost his voice at that point and instead of changing the set, they chose to let Niko (vocalist) do Aleksi's part to give the audience the show they deserved. It was great, yes I missed Aleksi screaming to BYOB but he was back again behind the DJ set for the rest of the show.
At the end of the show, Joel (Vocalist), brought out the italian flag I had given him in the meet and greet. Myself and lots of the fans had signed it, so it was very special.
I can't wait to see them again, this is most definitely one of those shows that makes you thing "this is were I belong".
