A Bit About Andy
Andy's first band was a punk group named Accident On The East Lancs, which initially started as a covers band. Frustrated by the other members' desire to remain a covers band, Andy moved on and kept the name, forming a new innovative four-piece to perform his original songs. He self-financed their debut single in 1979 on his label, Roach Records, featuring a double A-side with "We Want It Legalised" and "Tell Me What Ya Mean," the latter recently noted by Record Collector magazine as a potential cover for The Strokes. After this lineup disbanded due to a lack of immediate success, Andy formed another band with members from the local group Wilful Damage and the original covers band, releasing another double A-sided single in 1981 and a cassette album on Cargo Records. They performed at numerous free festivals and supported acts like The Fall and Crass. After leaving the band in 1982 for personal reasons, Andy released a single in 1985 but struggled to make a living with his original Americana material. He later became a tour manager, where he met producer Hilly Briggs, leading to his first solo album in 2004, featuring notable musicians. Living in London, he played extensively, supporting various artists and performing at major festivals. In 2009, he released another acclaimed album with The Smokin’ Jackets, and after a decade-long break, he is now set to release a triple album titled "Country Rock n Roll n Durty Blues."
